Jaboury Ghazoul is Professor of Ecosystem Management at the Department of Environmental Systems Science at ETH Z¨¹rich. He has recently been elected as a Fellow of the Royal Society of Edinburgh.

The European Geosciences Union (EGU) awards Christoph Sch?r the Vilhelm Bjerknes Medal 2023 for his research on extreme weather events. ?

Utrecht University in the Netherlands has awarded Sonia Seneviratne an honorary doctorate in natural sciences.

Tim Tr?ndle, a researcher in the Climate Policy Group at ETH Zurich, is one of the winners of the KlarText Prize for Science Communication 2022. In total, the Klaus Tschira Foundation awarded six young researchers. Another prize was awarded for the best infographic. Congratulations!

Lenny Winkel, associate Professor of Inorganic Environmental Geochemistry at ETH Zurich and Eawag, has been honoured with the Science Innovation Award by the European Association of Geochemistry (EAG).

The Austrian University of Innsbruck has awarded Christoph Sch?r an honorary doctorate in natural sciences.

Geochemist Denise Mitrano has been awarded this year's Marie Heim-V?gtlin Prize by the Swiss National Science Foundation (SNSF). She has developed a method for tracking micro- and nanoplastic particles in waters, soils and organisms.

Science meets literature: Anna Bischofberger (alias Stern) is a PhD student at the Institute for Integrative Biology and works at the Chair of Pathogen Ecology. Now she has won the Schweizer Buchpreis.

Sonia Seneviratne, Professor for Land-Climate Dynamics at ETH Zurich, has been awarded the Hans Oeschger Medal of the European Geosciences Union (EGU).

Rolf Frischknecht, a lecturer at the Department of Environmental Systems Science (D-USYS), has been given the EDANA Award for Lifetime Achievement in Life Cycle Assessment by the Society of Environmental Toxicology and Chemistry (SETAC). ?

World Food System Center Education Director Michelle Grant was presented with the Advance Award for Food & Agriculture by the Advance organization of the Australian Government. Throughout her career, Michelle has been committed to educating and cultivating young leaders.

Together with a group of colleagues from C?te d¡¯Ivoire, Burkina Faso and Sri Lanka, Emmanuel Frossard has received the 10^th CSRS-Eremitage Award for Scientific Research in Partnership. A professor of Plant Nutrition at the Department of Environmental Systems Science (D-USYS), Frossard has linked in his research yam crop physiology to the development of crop management practices in West Africa.

The Entomological Society of America (ESA) has selected Consuelo De Moraes as the 2019 recipient of the Recognition Award in Insect Physiology, Biochemistry and Toxicology (PBT), which is given for highly innovative research in these areas. The professor for Biocommunication and Entomology will be honored in November at the ESA Annual Meeting in Saint Louis, Missouri, USA.

Sebastian D?tterl, professor for Soil Resources at the Department of Environmental Systems Science at ETH Zurich, has been honoured with the "2020 Outstanding Early Career Scientist Award" (Division Soil System Sciences) by the European Geosciences Union (EGU).

The American Academy of Arts and Sciences, one of the oldest and most respected honour societies in the United States, has elected Sebastian Bonhoeffer as its member.

This year the Hans Vontobel Prize has been awarded to Timothy Sykes for his doctoral thesis in molecular plant breeding. The prize has been awarded annually to young agricultural scientists for the past 30 years.

The National Water Research Institute (NWRI) awarded Janet Hering the 2018 NWRI Clarke Prize for outstanding achievement in the field of water science and technology. The ETH Zurich researcher and director of Eawag is thus one of the most influential water researchers in the world. ?

Consuelo De Moraes, Professor of Biocommunication and Entomology at the Institue of Agricultural Sciences (IAS), has received the prestigious Nan-Yao Su Award for Innovation and Creativity in Entomology from the Entomological Society of America (ESA).

Silvia Dorn, Professor Emerita of Applied Entomology in the Institute of Agricultural Sciences at ETH Zurich, receives the Distinguished Scientist Award from the International Branch of the Entomological Society of America (ESA).

Reto Knutti, a professor for climate physics at the Institute for Atmospheric and Climate Science at ETH Zurich, will be awarded the 2018 prize of Dr J. E. Brandenberger Foundation for his achievements in the field of climate change research and the communication of his results to the public.

The Branco Weiss Fellowship ¨C Society in Science has selected Dr. Thomas Van Boeckel as one of six new fellows. The programme offers young researchers the opportunity to pursue a research topic of their choosing for up to five years following completion of their PhD.

Alexander Haumann, a former doctoral student at the Institute of Biogeochemistry and Pollutant Dynamics in the group of Nicolas Gruber, received two awards for his doctoral thesis. In addition to the ETH medal, he received the ?Prix de Quervain?.

Nina Buchmann, professor of Grassland Sciences in the Institute of Agricultural Sciences (IAS) at ETH, was recently recognized as an American Geophysical Union (AGU) 2018 Fellow.

Dani Or has received the honour to deliver the Walter B. Langbein Lecture during the AGU Fall Meeting in December 2018 in Washington, DC.

Ulrike Lohmann, professor for?Atmospheric Physics at the Institute for Atmosphere and Climate (IAC), has received the Honorary Doctorate in Science (DSc honoris causa) from Stockholm University for her pioneering work in cloud physics. ?

Janet Hering, professor for Environmental Biogeochemistry at ETH Zurich and Director of the Swiss Federal Institute of Aquatic Science and Technology Eawag, has been announced as a Geochemical Fellow by the Geochemical Society and the European Association of Geochemistry.?

Kris McNeill has been named a Fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS). Election as a AAAS Fellow is an honor bestowed upon AAAS members by their peers.

Michelle Grant, Executive Director of the World Food System Center, has received the University of Queensland Distinguished Young Alumni Award 2017. She is a food systems specialist and educator who runs the world-leading competence center tackling global food system challenges.

Dani Or, Professor of Soil and Terrestrial Environmental Physics at the Department of Environmental Systems Science (D-USYS), has been awarded the John Dalton Medal by the European Geosciences Union (EGU) for his research in the field of hydrology.
