«Distinguished Scientist Award» to Silvia Dorn
Silvia Dorn, Professor Emerita of Applied Entomology in the Institute of Agricultural Sciences at ETH Zurich, receives the Distinguished Scientist Award from the International Branch of the Entomological Society of America (ESA).
With this honor ESA recognizes Silvia Dorn’s outstanding contributions to the science of entomology. Her research focuses on insect-plant interactions, particularly as a basis for more sustainable crop and agro-ecosystem management, and for food security also in developing countries. Silvia Dorn is the first woman to receive this ESA award established in 2010, which has been granted so far to a total of seven entomologists from six continents.
The honor is awarded at the joint Annual Meeting of the ESA (USA) and the Entomological Society of Canada in Vancouver in November 2018.
