Data Science Internship 1 with CERC/SLF

Data Science Internships with externe SeiteCERC/externe SeiteSLF

Project: The Alpine Remote Sensing group at CERC uses different techniques to monitor the environment from a distance. In addition to drone and satellite imagery, they also rely on Webcam imagery to observe certain regions at higher intervals. Over 10 cameras are mounted in the Dischma valley to monitor avalanche activity and snow cover. Even though the cameras are permanently installed there are slight shifts between images due to small movements caused by wind or temperatures. The task of this project is to test and adapt algorithms for an accurate co-registration (alignment) of consecutive images to mitigate the effects of slight shifts.

The project will take place in an inspiring environment at the SLF and offsite with online supervision.

Qualifications required: MSc or BSc (ETH students only); basic MATLAB and Python programming skills.

Start date: Time mutually agreed upon.
