Future Day 2024: register for the attendance draw

National Future Day is taking place on 14 November 2024, when fifth to seventh grade pupils will have the opportunity at ETH Zurich to delve into the diverse professional world of science, technology and administration. This year, places for the centrally organised events are for the first time being drawn out of a hat.

The focus of Future Day is on switching perspectives: pupils are invited to explore careers that are traditionally assigned to the opposite sex. This gives up-and-coming career starters the opportunity to gain new impressions and expand their professional horizons.

This year, well over 300 children will be able to get to know ETH Zurich in 21 different programmes. Both children of ETH members and those without ties to the university are welcome. Following the successful pilot test last year, places are once again available this year for children from more socially disadvantaged families.

There are two ways for a pupil to be given a practical insight at ETH Zurich:

Basic programme

As an ETH member, you are invited to show children from your own family or those of relatives or friends your own workplace on this day as long as the safety regulations of your area of activity permit this.

Please discuss your plans with your supervisor and organise the child’s visit in good time so that he or she benefits from Future Day and gains a good impression.

Centrally organised events

Various departments and units of ETH offer special projects on Future Day that are centrally organised. The programmes last from 8 a.m. until 1.30 p.m. and cover a range of topics from programming and robotics to cell biology. You can find the programme here.

Registration opens on 2 September

Registration for the centrally organised events has increasingly developed into a race in recent years. The organisers have therefore decided to draw places out of a hat this year. You will have the opportunity from 2 to 11 September to register interested children for the draw. The lucky winners will be notified in the second half of September.

You and the children can already take a look at the programme on our website and discuss which programme they’re most interested in.
