SharePoint Online
SharePoint Online and OneDrive in Microsoft 365 are cloud-based services that support collaboration in project teams and departments using dynamic and efficient team websites.
The service promotes teamwork, the management and search for information, and seamless collaboration within ETH, but also with external partners.
SharePoint Online enables customers/users to share data, news and resources, and efficient teamwork through customized websites. The Service also allows groups inside and outside ETH to work together easily and securely with different devices (desktop, laptop, tablet) and operating systems (Windows, macOS, Linux).
Collaboration and communication (team websites)
SharePoint Online enables collaboration in teams, sharing messages and managing tasks.
Document management
SharePoint Online makes it easier to store, organize and share documents in a team in one central location.
Intranet of organizations and groups (communication websites)
SharePoint Online and its functionalities are well suited to setting up intranets/portals of organizations and internal groups.
Knowledge management
Use of SharePoint Online to share and manage knowledge, best practices and resources.
The SharePoint Online service is available to all units of ETH Zurich (departments & institutes, central bodies) as well as the ETH Council, ETHZ Foundation and ASVZ.
SharePoint Online sites with a storage size of up to 100 GB are free of charge. Storage requirements above this limit can be ordered via the IT Shop for a fee up to 25 terabytes. The pricing model can be seen in the IT Shop.
For personal OneDrive, employees have 100 GB and students have 20 GB free of charge. An expansion is not possible.
The customer can create SharePoint sites independently via the SharePoint Online landing page external pageethz.sharepoint.comcall_made.
