Gain insights with bibliometric evaluations

The ETH Library is launching a new, comprehensive bibliometric service. The quantitative analysis of publications and their reception (such as citations) can assist researchers and departments in their work.

You research, write and publish, but who is taking note of your results? Who reads your scientific publications? How often does your research become part of the academic discourse? – The Knowledge Management team at the ETH Library is now offering bibliometric services for ETH Zurich faculty, staff and students. The services will be developed and expanded, based on the needs of their users.

Bibliometrics: What and who is it for?

Bibliometrics and altmetrics cover the quantitative analysis of publications over a defined period of time, for example for a researcher, an institute or a research area. This provides the answers to the following questions, among others:

  • What are the disciplines and universities that the researchers citing my/our publications come from?
  • How are the citations of my/our publications progressing over time?
  • Are my/our publications being mentioned in the media/on social networks (e.g. blogs, newspapers, Twitter, policy documents)? If yes, which media and to what extent?
  • Which researchers from which institutions are publishing on the same and/or related topics? Can we identify possible collaboration partners who have not been considered before?
