Your dissertation supervisor doesn’t have a Wikipedia entry yet? The article about your favourite professor could be improved? Would you like to learn from experienced Wikipedia contributors how to write and edit articles? And would you also like to gain an insight into the Image Archive of the ETH Library?

Writing biographical articles and exchanging knowledge with others

Wikipedian external pageHadiand the Image Archive are jointly offering a writing workshop on the topic of ETH portraits. The meet-up will give experienced Wikipedians an opportunity to meet institutions from the GLAM sector (galleries, libraries, archives and museums), while newcomers to Wikipedia learn how to edit and write articles. There will also be plenty of time for casual exchange.

WikiProject ETH Portraits

“Is your Wikipedia article still missing a portrait? The ETH Library’s Image Archive team would be happy to help!” With this slogan, we hope to encourage professors of ETH Zurich to submit their portrait photos. The goal of the external pageWikiProject ETH Portraits is to add as many images as possible to Wikipedia articles and write any articles that may be missing.

We have been able to identify around 2,000 historical, retired and active professors. There are 1,340 Wikipedia articles about them in German, English and French. Around 900 portrait photos are already available in external pageWikimedia Commons. They can be added to the corresponding Wikipedia articles.
