OldMapsOnline – Make mobile use of historical maps

OldMapsOnline is the world’s largest and most important platform for digitized historical maps with around 385,000 documents.

Now call_made also contains more than 1,100 digital reproductions from ETH-Bibliothek, with most of these map sheets covering towns and regions in Switzerland for the period from 1750 to 1900. Developments, events and conditions in past centuries can be understood using thematic and topographical maps.

These maps can also be used on mobile devices with the OldMapsOnline app. It is also possible to situate maps precisely using the Georeferencer and reprocess them in GIS programs.

Would you like to help with georeferencing the maps? Then, for any ETH-Bibliothek map found via the platform, click on View as Overlay and get going. Or begin with a call_made. The ETH-Bibliothek maps team would be delighted if you could take part in this crowdsourcing activity.
