New database: Geofacets
Web-based search tool makes geoscientific maps to be found easily.
Maps are often hidden in peer-reviewed publications. external pageGeofacetscall_made is a database and search tool which makes geoscientific maps searchable.
The maps can be found via geographic or scientific keywords and are downloadable. Downloaded maps are accompanied by metadata, article abstracts and links that can be found in the original source articles.
Currently, 70% of the map content is georeferenced. Such maps can be immediately utilized in geographic information systems (GIS) software for further analysis.
