Long term storage (LTS)
Long-term storage of valuable data.
Data repository for departments: Saves compressed unstructured “Storage worthy” data. The optimal size for the data is between 10 and 200 GB. The “data processor” is an AD user in an AD group or it is a “functional” user AD or rather is an AD group.
- The maximum supported file size is 2 TB.
- The system is controlled with pre-processing via NFS or CIFS and shares data on the archive-related storage. Mixed-mode access (CIFS and NFS) is not possible.
- Additionally this service allows data objects to be “back copied” on local client file systems for reading and further processing.
- Manually deleting stored data.
- Reports on the amount of data stored per share and in exceptional cases per directory.
Limitations
The LTS service is not a data memory archive.
The ETH Library provides solutions for archiving digital data: Digital curation services.
