ETH Zurich news articles are open for comment. We look forward to reading your feedback about our articles or your answers to comments submitted by other readers.

News and blog posts

As news about ETH in the form of ETH News or Zukunftsblog articles and via other news channels are targeted at a broad public audience, all readers can make use of the comment function. Please bear in mind when you are writing a comment that it will remain online after being published and will be able to be found and called up at any time by search machines.

All comments are reviewed by the Editorial team prior to publication and released only if they comply with our comment policy. The following will not be published:

  • Content that is not related to the topic in question
  • Personal attacks of any kind, insults or targeted provocation
  • Discrimination and belittlement of any kind based on religion, nationality, colour, sexual orientation, political opinion, age or gender
  • Violent or pornographic content
  • Commercial or political advertising
  • Unlawful content
  • Comments from people with incorrect or incomplete last names and first names
  • Comments from people with invalid email addresses that make it impossible to identify the people who posted them.

The Editorial team reserves the right to edit or not to publish comments. No correspondence will be entered into about such decisions. The Editorial team accepts no responsibility for the factual accuracy of comments.

Internal news on “Intern aktuell”

Internal news articles on “Intern aktuell” are targeted primarily at ETH members. This channel also serves them as a platform for engaging in an open exchange of ideas on which they can enter into constructive and respectful dialogue. Members of ETH-affiliated institutions are also invited to contribute to discussions.

The comment rules for ETH news channels also apply for Internal news, barring one exception:
Only comments of individuals with a valid, official ETH email address (or email address of an ETH-affiliated institution) are published on Internal news.

Social media netiquette

Please note the following rules for comments on and reactions to ETH's social media postings:

  • Comments must relate to the topic of the post in question.
  • The posts of social media users on our social media pages do not reflect our opinion.
  • Respect other users and their opinions. Remain fair and factual and remember that communication on this site is public.
  • We reserve the right to remove posts that do not comply with these rules without giving reasons. In particular, the following content is not permitted:
    • Defamatory posts and comments or those with racist, discriminatory, sexist, pornographic, violence glorifying, misleading or illegal content
    • Comments that are not inappropriate for young people or that are suggestive
    • Personal attacks
    • Spam, personal ads, advertisements and other commercial content
    • Activities that interfere with the proper functioning of the social media sites, as well as the uploading of documents containing harmful viruses or the like
    • Content that violates the rights of ETH Zurich, its affiliates and third parties.

ETH Zurich's Corporate Communications team is responsible for publishing on ETH News and official ETH social media channels.
